Hickory Stick Competition – Royal Adelaide defeated Blackwood 3-2

Round 1

Report courtesy of Lisa Rasheed.

Our first match to finish today was Charmaine’s, who played some lovely golf to secure her win on the 15th hole.

The remaining matches went right down to the wire, with the final three holes proving to be real nail-biters.

Tracy was our comeback star of the day. Sitting at -3 for much of her match, she fought back bravely before narrowly losing on the 17th.

Cathy faced a tough challenge, with her opponent on fire throughout. Despite being -3 with three holes to play, Cathy battled hard but ultimately conceded on the next hole.

Sarah went into the 18th square and unleashed a huge drive that set her up beautifully. Although both players found the gully with their second shots, Sarah kept her composure and finished strongly on the green to claim the win.

Prim, giving seven shots, stayed in control all day and cruised to a well-earned victory.

A big thank you also to our reserve for the day, Lisa Rasheed, who came out to watch and support the team.

Round 2 will be played on Monday 5 June against The Vines at North Adelaide with the following team:

Annie Clough
Deb James
Di Weber
Sarah Ayres
Tania Miller
Tracy Leaney (reserve)
