ROYAL ADELAIDE WINS KRAK CUP

Royal Adelaide has won the KRAK Cup for the first time since 2015.

The 2023 KRAK Cup, an annual event played between reciprocal clubs Kingston Heath, Lake Karrinyup and Royal Adelaide, was held at Royal Adelaide from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th October. Each club is represented by teams of 12, primarily comprised by Committee and Sub-Committee members.

Royal Adelaide was represented by Tim Jordan, Craig Ball, Matt Binns, Sarah Chia, Lisa Daw, Adam Kimber, Michael Lane, Michael Jay, Sophie Hilditch, Henry Perks, Rob Manton and Ian Rice.

After Saturday’s matches, scores were tied at 3 points per club. The Royal Adelaide team used the home club advantage to full effect on Sunday winning 5.5 points from a possible 6 to win the event on 8.5 points. Defending champions Lake Karrinyup were runners up on 5.5 while Kingston Heath were only able to add 1 point to their overnight tally.

ABOUT THE KRAK CUP

The KRAK Cup was first played at Kingston Heath in 2006 after a conversation between John Hopkins (then President of LKCC) and David Cherry (then Captain at RAGC), both realising their clubs were reciprocal with Kingston Heath (then Captain Graeme John). During the first staging, there was some debate about what to call the event. A number of suggestions were put forward and KRAKH was decided upon, with the ‘H’ being dropped a year or so later.
