Congratulations to Club centenarian John Skipper, the winner of the 2022 Shannon Veteran’s Trophy.
The 2022 instalment of the event was played on Saturday 25th February following the cancellation of the event in November due to bad weather. The Shannon Veteran’s is open to members who have reached the age of 60 as at the day of competition with players receiving 1 bonus stableford point/handicap stroke for every completed two years over the age of 60.
Playing off a daily handicap of 31, John equalled his handicap with 36 points. With age calculations complete, John’s trophy score was 56 points, to clinch to title by 8 points from Tony Carrocci (39/48). Rounding out the top 5 was John Brook (37/48), Kym Perks (39/47) and Chris Redwood (39/47). This is John’s fourth title win, having won the trophy in 1991, 2001 and 2010.
